Sector Space offers four hard-coded classes — Proprietor (6 fleet slots, Industrial), Infiltrator (2 fleet slots, Ambush DPS), Templar (4 fleet slots, Balanced), and Sentinel (3 fleet slots, Tank) — each tied to fixed slot colors and per-level stat growth. Train Fleet Management and Fleet Engineering to grow your fleet cap and turn a Skiff into a leveled Yacht, Corvette, or Dreadnaught.

More context

Slot colors are fixed across all ships: red weapon, green shield, yellow armor, dark blue energy, beige drive, purple device, light blue module. Class and skill choices can be reset at a station for credits; undoing a class with an active fleet disbands ships you cannot handle.

Modules, devices, and station upgrades

Devices serve specialized roles (transfers for shields/armor/hull, speed buffs, drone health buffs, cloaking devices, cargo extenders). Modules cover everything from combat upgrades (rate of fire, weapon damage, weapon range, crit chance, crit damage, shield/armor regen, shield/armor resistance), through refineries and production modules (Factories, Auto Miners), to capacitor banks, ammo printers, and reactor modules. Stations have their own unique Station Upgrade slot containing items such as Station Offense Upgrade, Defense Upgrade, Fabrication Bay, Disassembler (formerly Recycling Bay), and Dry Dock.

To swap or replace equipment, double-click an item in cargo to auto-slot it where possible; otherwise drag and drop. The Green Up Arrow installs all available gear into empty slots while the Red Down Arrow strips a ship of all equipment at once.

Build and fit the fleet

To build a fleet, double-click a ship in an accessible inventory (choose to swap or add) or open the Tab-key Character menu's Fleet Management tab and drag ships into slots. Each deployed ship comes empty and must be re-fitted. Drones and Stations are limited by a per-system local cap; you can leave the area, redeploy in another region, and drones will stay until picked up or destroyed. Some NPC platforms can be picked up with the Scoop Items action.

Ships scale in slot count and quality through the level rewards. Skiffs are the starter hull, Yachts are the first upgrade, and Dreadnaught-class hulls are the late-game combat backbone.
