Start Here for Sector Space

Use these three entry points as the backbone of any Sector Space session.

  • Getting Started covers the first steps after launching a new galaxy, including controls, the very first resource loop, and what to do before encountering hostile regions.
  • Gameplay Overview maps every confirmed system in the current build and links out to the dedicated guides for progression, production, exploration, combat, and stations.
  • Early Access Status records the release date, supported platform and language, the developer's list of implemented features, and the list of confirmed-but-not-implemented roadmap items.

If only one page is read, the Gameplay Overview is the most complete map of what Sector Space actually offers in Early Access right now.

Progression and Fleet

Sector Space ships its own profession and leveling system, plus a fleet that grows with the chosen class.

  • Careers & Skills explains how the chosen profession shapes the captain, how secondary skills are selected for specialization, and what is documented versus inferred about the system.
  • Fleet Progression covers the cap of up to six fleet ships tied to class, how fleet ships inherit skill effects, and what fleet combat looks like in dangerous regions.
  • Ships & Equipment is the reference page for ship roles, equipment slots, modifiers, cargo, and the scope of confirmed items versus unverified catalogs.

Production and Economy

Every long session in Sector Space runs through mining, refining, crafting, colonization, and trade. None of these loops are isolated.

  • Mining & Refining describes asteroid mining, the basic extraction loop, and the official note that most resources are renewable across galaxies.
  • Crafting & Manufacturing explains how refined materials become components, how components become items and ships, and how crafting feeds the leveling system.
  • Colonies covers planetary extraction, the construction relationship between colonies and stations, and the boundary between implemented colony features and the developer's planned colony events.
  • Trading walks through station-to-station trade, regional price differences, the simulated market economy shipped in 0.6.0.0, and the Military / Industrial / Capital / Science / Unique market-tag taxonomy.

Space and Combat

Travel, combat, and stations tie the sandbox together. The space-and-combat cluster explains how those systems actually intersect.

  • Exploration describes the procedurally generated galaxy, the sector grid, jump drives, jump gates, and wormholes, plus the point-of-interest structure inside each world.
  • Combat covers targeting and firing, fleet weapons, the safety lock, special combat areas with better item drops, NPC encounters, ambushes in dangerous regions, the named enemy roster shipped in 0.6.0.0, and the current "some bosses" note.
  • Space Stations explains station building, docking, the Station Disassembler, Station Packing Module, station cloak, station weapon control, and trade bay item listing editor modules shipped in 0.6.0.0, plus the partial implementation of player-owned station trade bays.

Fact Boundaries

  • Research date: 2026-09-05. Every current-game claim is supported by the official Steam listing, the developer Robin M. Farrell's itch.io page, and the Steam Community Events & Announcements patch notes for Version 0.6.0.0 (1 Sept 2026), 0.6.0.1 (2 Sept 2026), 0.6.0.2 (3 Sept 2026), and 0.6.0.3 (5 Sept 2026), all checked on this date.
  • The fact boundary for current-game facts is the official Sector Space Steam store page, the developer's itch.io page, and the Steam Community Events & Announcements patch threads. Established media may be used only for attributed context, and no community video or wiki page is treated as a current-game source on this homepage.
  • Features listed by the developer as planned remain NOT implemented. After the September 2026 patches that list still includes cloaked NPC ambushes, NPC fleeing mechanics, colony disasters, planet transforming, planet landings, news ticker, multiplayer (hosted world) chat and arena features, holiday-based events, world progression state changes, tractor beams, scanner mechanics, ruin puzzles, mini games, space "pets", trophies, and game achievements.
  • Two roadmap items have been re-tagged on the wiki because the September 2026 patch notes describe them as shipped: "dynamic markets" is now implemented as a simulated station economy with the Military / Industrial / Capital / Science / Unique market-tag taxonomy, and "player-owned station trade bays" is partially implemented because NPC docking now requires a player station to be equipped with a trade bay. Read the September 2026 Patches page, the trading guide, and the space stations guide for the scoped description.
  • Version 0.6.0.3 (5 Sept 2026) is treated as the first-party source for the NPC drops rewrite, the buy-sell value return cap, the item stat bonuses and modifiers display separation, the Dark Fluid and Energized Fluid drop rules, the Void Ore / Infected Ore / Webbed Ore refinery product changes, the mining beam overclocking addition, the salvage XP rule, the Strange Tablet ruin drop, the hostile-faction cross-attack rule, and the seven first-party bug fixes (Mining Power skill drop chance, void fleets spawning in non-void sectors, brood fleets not spawning, hull speed bonus only while auto-piloting, double-click, repair kit on selected gear, and keybinds reset on version change). The homepage does not publish drop rates, fluid quantities, refinery yields, salvage XP values, or balance numbers beyond what that thread states.
  • No original or legacy Sector Space game was identified. The phrase "sectors of space" refers to general astronomy usage, and "space sector jobs" or "space industry careers" refers to real-world employment; both are explicitly excluded from this homepage and from the wiki scope.
  • Enemy rosters, boss names, weapon statistics, item statistics, exact skill formulas, transfer costs, and any balance numbers beyond the official quoted descriptions are not documented in the cited material and are not stated here.
